Getting Started

Everything you need to go from download to riding in under two minutes.

Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Windows 10 or 11 with Bluetooth
  • Elite Square handlebar remote
  • An FTMS-compatible smart trainer (Wahoo KICKR, Tacx, JetBlack, Elite, etc.)

Quick Start

Three steps and you're riding.

Step 1

Download

Download SquareLink from the store. Place the .exe anywhere — no installer needed.

Step 2

Connect

Launch the app. Wake your Elite Square by pressing any button, then turn on your trainer. SquareLink finds and connects both automatically.

Step 3

Ride

Start pedalling. Use the shift levers on your Elite Square to change gears or fine-tune power in real time.

Modes — Standalone vs Bridge

SquareLink has two distinct operating modes:

  • Standalone Free, no trial
Direct control. Elite Square → SquareLink → Trainer. Best for solo rides without a cycling app.
  • Bridge 7-day free trial, then one-time purchase
Exposes your trainer to Zwift, Rouvy, or MyWhoosh via Dircon while keeping full Elite Square control. The app appears as "SquareLink KICKR" in your cycling app's device list.

Button Controls

Default button mapping:

Button Action
Left / Right Shift 1 Fine power up (+5 W per click)
Left / Right Shift 2 Fine power down (−5 W per click)
Right Campagnolo Gear up
Left Campagnolo Gear down
Long-press any Continuous ramp (15 W/s)

Rapid clicks within 400 ms accelerate the step size up to 30 W. Release to reset.

Built-in presets for Zwift, MyWhoosh, and Rouvy are available in Settings → Buttons tab. You can also create fully custom profiles.

Power Settings

  • FTP — Your Functional Threshold Power in watts. All training zones are calculated from this value.
  • Min / Max Watts — Clamps the power range the trainer will target (default 100–600 W).
  • Gear ModeERG: each gear holds a fixed watt target regardless of cadence. SIM: power scales with cadence like an outdoor bike.
  • Training Zones — 7 colour-coded zones from Recovery (< 60 % FTP) to Anaerobic (120 %+). Displayed on the dashboard and overlay HUD.

Overlay HUD

  • Click the Pin button on the dashboard to switch to a transparent, always-on-top overlay.
  • Shows watts, zone, gear position, and connection status.
  • Drag to reposition. Resize with the corner grip or zoom controls (−/+/R).
  • Adjust opacity with the slider (20–100 %).
  • Click through the overlay to interact with Zwift / MyWhoosh underneath.
