Privacy Policy

Introduction

SquareLink ("we", "our", "the app") is a Windows desktop application that bridges Elite Square cycling controllers to FTMS-compatible smart trainers via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This privacy policy explains how we handle your data — or more accurately, how we don't.

Who We Are

SquareLink is operated by the following data controller, who is responsible for the personal data described in this policy:

Data Collected by the App

None. The SquareLink desktop application collects zero personal data. The application:

• Does not require an internet connection
• Does not transmit any data to external servers
• Does not include analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind
• Does not use cookies
• Does not require account creation

Local Storage

SquareLink stores the following files locally on your computer:

• config.json — Your gear mapping preferences, FTP setting, and power zones. This file never leaves your machine.
• squarelink.log — A local log file for debugging purposes. This file is never transmitted anywhere.

Both files are stored in the application directory and can be freely deleted at any time.

Bluetooth Communication

SquareLink communicates with your Elite Square controller and FTMS trainer over local Bluetooth Low Energy. All BLE communication happens directly between your computer and your devices — no data passes through any external server or cloud service.

Purchases

SquareLink is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our Merchant of Record. When you purchase SquareLink, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and handles all transaction data according to their privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment details (credit card number, billing address, etc.).

This Website

This website (squarelinkapp.com) is a static site. It does not use cookies, does not run analytics, and does not track visitors. Simply browsing the site stores nothing about you.

The one exception is the launch-notification form described below, which only runs if you choose to type your email into it.

Launch Notification List

Before release, this site offers a form to be told when SquareLink becomes downloadable. This is entirely optional — the site is fully usable without it.

• What we collect: your email address, and nothing else. No name, no country, no tracking of which pages you viewed.
• Why: to send you a single email when SquareLink is available to download. We do not send a newsletter, marketing, or third-party offers.
• Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): your consent, given by submitting the form and confirming via the opt-in email we send you. The date and time of that confirmation is recorded as proof of consent.
• How long: until you unsubscribe, or until 6 months after launch, whichever comes first — then the list is deleted.
• Who else sees it: nobody beyond our email processor, named below. We never sell, rent, or share the list.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send, or by emailing support@squarelinkapp.com. Withdrawing is free and takes effect immediately.

Email Processor

The launch list is stored and sent through Brevo, operated by Sendinblue SAS in Paris, France, acting as our data processor under a data processing agreement. Brevo hosts data on servers within the European Union, so your email address is never transferred outside the EU. Their handling of it is governed by Brevo's privacy policy.

Your Rights

If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. Since the only data we ever hold is an email address you gave us voluntarily, in practice this means: ask and we will tell you if you're on the list, and delete you from it on request.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@squarelinkapp.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

SquareLink is not directed at children. The app collects no personal information from anyone. The launch notification list is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly add them to it. If you believe a child has submitted their email, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date.
